China enters peak period for trade disputes

As trade conflicts become more and more frequent, especially with the fast growth of China's foreign trade after WTO accession, the Ministry of Commerce now says the country has entered a peak period for trade disputes.

Official figures show China's export trade has maintained an annual growth rate of more than 30 percent since joining the World Trade Organization. But at the same time, China has been subject to increasing trade disputes.

During the first three quarters this year, China has been the target of 46 anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, protection measures and special safeguard investigations from 12 countries and regions. That's a 4.5 percent increase over the same period last year. The amount of money involved in these disputes comes in at more than 1 billion US dollars, 1.5 percent higher than in 2003. Enditem
